Colorado’s 4th largest American Linden tree sits as the front yard centerpiece of the “Tree House.” Built over the foundation of a 1950s motel, the project created additional design studio space for our firm, next door to our world headquarters. An internal design competition set high goals for sustainable systems of geo-exchange, photovoltaic and pervious pavement and garnered LEED Gold certification.
- Creation of a new studio space, offices, a conference room and support spaces while “saving the tree”
- Experimentation with new sustainable materials and systems to achieve LEED Gold certification
- Recycled materials include reuse of a local gym floor, rubber tire floor carpet and stadium bench seating as base trim
- Environmental systems include ground source heat pumps, solar panels, a green roof and previous pavement
