Anderson Hallas led the design of the new visitor contact center at Cedar Breaks National Monument, a striking gateway to the breathtaking views of Point Supreme Overlook. This facility harmonizes historic design elements with contemporary aesthetics, creating expanded indoor and sheltered outdoor spaces for park staff and a growing crowd of visitors to enjoy.
The design showcases a spacious, sheltered area crowned by an intersecting gabled roof that echoes the charm of the nearby CCC-era cabin. With a sturdy steel-framed structure, the Cedar Breaks Visitor Contact Station is built to withstand the wild challenges of its remote location, including heavy snow loads and seismic activity. Plus, the team tackled tricky soil conditions and a tight construction window. This thoughtful design not only enhances the visitor experience but also stands as a testament to resilience and innovation in harmony with nature. As a welcoming hub for explorers and nature lovers alike, the Cedar Breaks Visitor Contact Station is poised to be a cherished gathering place, bridging the past and present while celebrating the stunning landscape that surrounds it.
