An adaptive reuse of a campus dormitory into a state-of-the art learning environment. Located in the core of the campus, the building supports all learning modalities, offering settings for student discussions, outdoor seating areas, and Smart Classrooms up to large, flexible spaces for celebrating life transitions. Significant private donations made this project possible.
- Re-creation of a whole new Graduate School of Social Work out of the physical framework of an old dormitory
- Adaptive reuse into state-of-the-art offices, classrooms, meeting and gathering spaces
- Strategically wove circulation, way-finding windows and breakout nooks throughout
- New classrooms anchor the ends of the building wings
- Building addition provides large conference/meeting room for conversation to a banquet hall
- Unique exterior architectural detailing transforms a bland 1940s dormitory to DU’s campus aesthetic
