21st Century Learning is at the heart of the rehabilitation of a 20th Century school. Threading modern systems, addressing life safety and administrative space needs, while curating Works Progress Administrationg (WPA)-era murals and enhancing the school’s 1930’s theater, struck the sensitive balance between old and new.
- A blend of maintaining the historic character of the exterior while providing a contemporary, 21st Century Learning environment on the interior
- Multiple additions, each with differing character had resulted in a lack of architectural cohesiveness, were reconciled by the addition of a new, secure entry
- Transformation of the historic auditorium, including new seating, technology and curtains/lighting
