The Westminster Municipal Courthouse project was designed to provide fundamental security, safety, and accessibility improvements that their existing facility lacked while creating a state-of-the art, technologically integrated justice facility. The team developed a plan to construct the new courthouse, nearly twice the size of the existing, along with a partner facility, the Community Reach Center, and extensive site improvements on the current site of the courthouse, while court remains in session throughout construction.
To accomplish the visioning for this project, AH led a robust public engagement effort, with a Community Advisory Team, and a series of in-person and online open houses intended to first gather feedback, and later to communicate back out to the community.
Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, the all-electric, net-zero facility embodies a long-term commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Opening in 2027, the new courthouse, Community Reach Center, and consolidated park improvements will not only serve the community justice needs of Westminster, but also enrich the public realm and local neighborhood.
