In 1926, the National Park Service opened it’s very first museum located at Yosemite, built by the American Association of Museums and donated to NPS. Known for being the “index to the wonders” by the National Park Service’s first Director, Stephen Mather, the Yosemite Museum showcases rustic-style architecture and paved the way for educational adventures in the park system. We are rehabilitating this historic gem by honoring the original design, which beautifully blends into the stunning surroundings. Our team will focus on improvements that enhance resiliency while staying true to its rustic aesthetic. Here’s to preserving history and crafting a sustainable future!
